Dr. Hirsch began his career working with male teenagers experiencing mental health problems. He then attended medical school and started an initiative to legalize syringe exchange programs for IV drug users in the state of Florida, which became law years later. While in psychiatry residency, he was selected for a two year leadership fellowship with the American Psychiatric Association and sat on the APA’s board of addiction psychiatry. He now resides in Jacksonville, FL where he works on a hospital’s psychiatric inpatient unit, in addition to providing electroconvulsive therapy and seeing outpatients for addiction treatment. He lives with his wife and two sons.
